Basically i have a 1.9GTI that im scrapping and a 1.6 CTI that im going to use in the summer, the 1.6 beam is lowerd so i want 2 keep this but can i swap the drums for brakes by changing the stub axels and components or are the beams different. pug_ham 242 3 Cars Posted January 22, 2006 Beams should be the same spec bar the brake differences. Take the hubs etc off one axle (including stub axle) & fit it onto the other. (stub axles are different lengths). Shoud swap straight over. Graham. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

205wrc 16 Posted August 11, 2006 The holes in the back of the pins for the allen key is a decoy !! You simply knock the pins through towards the middle of the car using a copper mallett or a hammer and brass or copper drift. Take care not to damage the thread. New pins are available from AB Motorsport, West Midlands Motorsport, Skip Brown Cars or Special Tuning, and are about £40+ each Aled Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
kman1600 0 Posted August 11, 2006 Hi, Thanks for that, saved me a lot of head scratching!!! Arms are off the car so I just pushed them out with a press, easy when you know how.
