Rear Beam Bearing?

I am doing up a 309 beam and as expected the arms&bearings are gone.

So a few questions to the experienced,

1. Is the 309 arm the same as the 205 ones and where's the cheapest place to get one.

2. Can the bearings be bought anywhere other than Peugeot (skf etc..)and has anyone got the spec's of the bearings id dia, od dia etc to hand or link me to the manufactures site. Need help on this as I am looking at a new cheaper method of repairing the beam.

 

I know this has probably been covered before, but I can't find it using the search engine (we need google!)

i think the arms are the same however im not 100% The Cheapest place to get them would be the scrap yard (i needed a replacement beam as mine had worn away and was lucky to find one with useable shafts for £40) Id check them before buyin as they could and most likly will be dead.

 

You can buy the bearings from other websites eg pugspares, auto five but i have read that for the small price difference - few pence its better to get genuine pug ones.

 

Here is a list of pug part numbers for a 205 beam recon

 

 

5176 17 Trailing arm shaft

 

5172 24 Anti roll bar bearing bush (Large rubber ring that goes around the anti roll bar lever and stops it rattling)

 

5174 03 Crossmember seal (anti roll bar lever)

 

5132 49 External bearing

 

5131 45 Internal bearing

 

5154 08 Suspension arm seal

 

5154 09 Cup (Metal ring that fits over the new trailing arm shaft when fitted)

 

5154 10 External seal (suspension arm seal holder)

 

5153 12 Suspension bar washer

 

5153 11 Crossmember screw

 

5153 10 Suspension bar stud

 

6962 66 Spring washer

 

6932 38 Hexagonal nut

 

 

Not sure if there the parts you need for a 309 beam or not. But sure someone on here will know for sure

Thanks for the reply Andy all good info, but what I really need is info (blueprints etc..) on the bearings (hoping there made by someone other than Peugeot) to use as a reference for a new method of repair. As my beams in bad shape I can not make accurate measurements.

 

I will probably rebuild this beam as normal due to my current beams not being 100% and I need this sorted asap so thanks for the parts list , but will then rebuild that beam with the new method.

The arms are the same - you can press out and fit better shafts if you want.

 

The orignal beam bearings are made by SNR, a french company. You might be able to get them cheaper through a bearing distributor.

 

Rear Beam Outer bearing = SNR DB 47260 EE

Rear Beam Inner bearing = SNR DB 47937 EE

 

Im reliably informed that these will be a specialist part and can't be replaced with a standard fitment part as theres not enough room.

This should prove very useful info, i've sent the company a email asking for further info, lets hope there a helpful bunch.

I need the details only as a starting point for further investigation into this problem.

I'm not too sure what this is going to achieve though unless you intend to refurb several beams?

 

The cost of all the other parts required is considerable, and as far as I can tell, only available from Pug or Citreon. The bearings themselves aren't madly expensive, the saving of a couple of quid hardly seems worth the effort for one beam.

 

French German and Swedish sell pattern part bearings which are cheaper but with less needle rollers (and therefore increased surface pressure and wear).

 

Still, everyone has reasons.

 

Apart from the increased track of the 309 beam in relation to the 205 one, all the rebuild parts are the same, including the trailing arms etc :rolleyes:

It's the whole setup I am working on. Details of the bearings will give me some exact measurements I can not obtain from 10+ year parts. If my idea works it could save a lot of money on a full rebuild and be offered to others.

These are the outer bearing external sizes Nick (Wurzel) sent me;

According to the vernier calipers:

Width 21.87mm (0.861 ins)

Diameter 53.17mm (2.093 ins)

Radius arm shaft is 47mm (1.85 ins).

 

I'll try to measure an inner bearing later.
