Positive Cable Connector To Shunt Box

Recommended Posts

205007

i am just finishing the wiring off to the rally car and i have used the positive cable from a ph1 car

the rest of the loom is ph2

is this connector on 1st pic the same on all models or does it differ on phase?

also on the 2nd pic im pretty sure the small plug goes to the fan speed resistor, but it only has 2 wires in, the resistor has 3 prongs on the plug? is this right?

cheers

adam

ps the light blue wire is this for the horn?

Adam,

I'm pretty sure they differ.

I stripped a phase 1 309 & that had the same kind of shunt box as you have pictured where the phase 2 ones are connected to the battery by two ring terminals that fit to studs on one end.

The fan plug in your second picture connects into the fan loom which is seperate & plugs into the shunt box iirc.

I think I have a spare phase 1.5 loom for this downstairs which needs a repair to one wire.

Graham.

After deliberation and looking at several 205`s for future refrence

Phase 1 cars dont have a shunt box they have separate connections to route positive power from the batery

the cable in 1st pic is from a phase 1 205 gti

All i needed to do was remove the plastic covers on the positive cables shown and attach to phase 2 shunt box to provide juice to the shunt

the second picture shows 2 connectors:

the large connector goes to the shunt

the small connector goes to the fan speed relay

still not worked the blue one out!

ps the light blue wire is this for the horn, it is

The brown plug doesn't go to the fan, It should be for the dim dip circuit, I'll check this out tomorrow if I remember
