205Mi16 Running Problems Problems

Recommended Posts

My 1905 mi16is giving me one headache after another. As in previous tread think I need a new t/bodie when I start car form cold it idles fine at a steady 950 to a 1000 rpm the engine warms up idle starts jumping if it gets to a point where fan cuts in its like it goes onto three cylinders and revs drop away and car stalls leave it to cool down and alls well again until it gets hot again I've tried another ice valve that seemed to make it twice as bad just looking for some idea s would a faulty tps cause this it's like something is breaking down when it gets hot. Can't think what else it could be? Help please

If you blip the throttle when its warm does it stutter? Might be ignition amp, try a known working spare from someone (blue bosch). When mine was faulty it was much more noticable when warm

Ditto , try known good spare ign. module (appy some heat sink paste/jelly at the back of the module prior to fitting)

Check the rotor arm for any burn marks on the camshaft end. I.e remove it. I had very similar symptoms years ago and it turned out to be a small burn mark that must have arced out to the camshaft. Very odd, but it cured it once replaced. I had previously changed all the normal suspect components with you symptoms with no joy.

Changed all the above still have problem when car is hot and I approach a junction if I depress clutch instead of revs dropping to ideal it rev up to about 2000/2500 then it will slowly fall to 1000 rpm. Problem seems worse hotter cAr is any idears

Have you tested for air leaks when the engine is hot?

ECU coolant sensor?

Have you checked spark plug colour, plug leads, injector leads?

Throttle position switch? Listen to the throttle body when you open the throttle and it should click just as it comes off the stop. Engine doesnt need to be running.

that'll only tell you if its adjusted properly, a multimeter will show if its working.
