Right, i managed to pick up a set of front seats of a memeber on here (JRL) thanks, spent saturday day stripping the car to unearth any hidden damage and all in all pretty impressed, i will let the pictures do the talking.

First job was to get it up on axle stands so the underneath could be treated, a good friend of mine is trying to convice me to take everything off and tipp the car on its side onto an old mattress so the treating can be done easly, but im not conviced that it wont damage or buckle the shell

Time for the RUST! really was not bad at all, some twit decided to weld the battary relocation frame to the boot floor so that caused two holes getting that off, but the metal underneith it is still strong. there was only 1 place where the rust had actaully gone through and that was on the drivers side foot well its the size of 5 pound coin. heres the pics

The paint code is located on the slam panel next to the passenger headlight.

From memory Miami is M0MY, but there is a list on the 205gtidrivers.com website :)

miami had several different shades and undercoats, so you need to get the paint matched not just go off the code/name.

I spent last night up the unit trying to continue stripping the car and unearth more rust lol i will let the pictures do the talking.

Does anyone know if this is the correct engine mount to be using on the 8v turbos? it seems to sit really close to the rad.

IMG_1166.jpg

IMG_1168.jpg

i then decided to tackle taking the wings off, and it appears that the passengers side wing is orginal as it was still stuck on with sealer. this was my first attempt at removing a 205 wing and i was going to replace it anyway but here is how it went,

some help from my pup aswell.

Finally got it off lol

IMG_1179.jpg

and here is what it looked like when i got it off

IMG_1180.jpg

IMG_1181.jpg

But the sealent was doing its job, as there is no rust what so ever

IMG_1182.jpg

IMG_1183.jpg

IMG_1185.jpg

infact this whole side see good :)

IMG_1187.jpg

And then it was to the other side that just came off with ease as it wasnt sealed down as it must have been taken off in the past, its rusty but nothing too bad at all just a clean up

IMG_1188.jpg

IMG_1190.jpg

IMG_1193.jpg

IMG_1194.jpg

so it looks like i will be replacing that part of the front.

i also took the exhause off and stripped the rest of the back so i can drop the rear beam this weekend so i can start preping for underseal.

and then to finish the night off i got one of these

Spent Wednesday night removing the rear beam, degreasing, wire brushing and applying rust treatment. This was a messy job lol

Firstly got the rear beam off.

IMG_1203.jpg

Then realised that by leaving the engine in and it being on axle stands, when you remove the rear beam there is no longer enough weight at the back to hold it down, (the panicy moment where you have to jump on the boot opening to hold the car down lol)

IMG_1213.jpg

IMG_1204.jpg

This actually wasn’t a bad thing as it gave me a huge amount of room to work on the underneath.

I also made and attempt as cutting some of the minor rust out,

So spent Saturday day rubbing down the underneath and after reading through a fellow members resto thread it was suggested to remove the petrol tank as I was originally going to leave it on there, and I'm glad to say it was a good choice. Took all of ten minutes to drop and look what lurked behind,

IMG_1223.jpg

IMG_1226.jpg

IMG_1227.jpg

I also degreased and applied underseal to the wheel arches so its fully protected in the future and hopefully reduce the road noise inside the car.

Also applied underseal to the underneath, its only 1 coat at the moment, I'm putting another coat on this week, to make the thickness and coverage,

IMG_1238.jpg

IMG_1240.jpg

IMG_1241.jpg

also can any guess whats missing? came off with the bumper

IMG_1232.jpg

The cut out from underneath, just need to buy a welder now to finished this bit off.

IMG_1255.jpg

Also, started to pull the rear beam apart and noticed that the driver’s side was seized solid  . I haven’t driven the car much but did noticed there was a loud bang when I went over a few bumps and suspected it was something to do with the rear end but I was hoping it was a bush of some sort as I was dreading I would have to strip the beam. After reading a few posts on here it seems like it’s not too much of a bad job, I have striped all the brakes off and shocks, which the shocks are also knackered (I think), so I just need to take off the arms now.

Right spent last night stripping the rear beam as 1 side was seized solid, the free side came out without and issues. However the seized size was a different story, it finally came out after 30mins of hammering and a pulled back muscle.

This is the good side.

IMG_1276.jpg

This is the bad side, the rubber seal was perished an allowed water through and rust the inside,

IMG_1275.jpg

Now I'm not 100% sure that I can reused this beam tube? Any input guys?
