[car_upgrade] 205 1.9 8v > Mi16 And A Bit More

Recommended Posts

dynacord

Hi ,

So this is the car that has so interesting story (and this is only for 7 months).

April 2008 - 1988 1.9 105bhp GTi was bought

June 2008 - National meeting of Peugeot club bulgaria on track (good performance overall with stock suspension, brakes, etc.)

July 2008 - the real stuff begins. Trip with colleagues to Burgas ( Black Sea), around 500km. Not in a hurry, oil & water - OK.

30km before the beach, the water jumps (it was around 37 C outside temperature), so stop for a rest, engine cools down, 'Let's go everybody'..

.....

Strange (expensive) noise from the engine, so it was left in a local garage near Burgas, and some boys had to deal with it.

The result was damaged crankshaft, so a mi16 was available (from another trashed 205 :) ) and my brother Ifcho said that it will better the new engine rather the broken one. The engine was mounted by the boys in the garage but they had some difficulties with the ecu.

And after 2 months stay in this local garage :) , we dragged it back (500km) with Ifcho's cabrio :D

Here we've managed to start it and finally to drive it after some misunderstandings with some wirings..

After some driving (not so much around 100-150 km), gearbox was trashed. Because the stupidos in this 'sea' garage have not put all the bolts ;) .

My old gearbox (from the 105bhp motor) was mounted, it comes a bit long but fast enough.

So there was some driving, with some other water failures, but no big deal.

We went to some amateur race in a town nearby, the car - too much power for the soft suspension, but it was okay.

But an accident happened, a friend of mine stepped on the tires, lying on the curbs and while turning right-U turn, the car jumped and was roofed.

So, we found some guy, who fixed the body, and now it is fully repainted in a friend's garage.

Sorry about the pictures, will fix them when i am @ home.

oh, the car we've had the pleasure (or not! :D) seeing in ifcho's thread already.

good to see you've managed to repair it successfully.

is it going to be resprayed in the same colour as it was?

keep up the good work!

So, here it is - moving again. Red and shiny - not exactly the P3KB / rouge vallelunga but adorable B)

The arches have been fresh painted in black.

I have lost the little wing on the back door somewhere ;) no idea where it is.

Again, there have been annoying issues  with the firing.

The orange indicators went to the nothingness - so pretty with the new ones (right one is a bit broken but anyway :) )

Things to come :

placing the battery in the back (with a cable from BMW)

Brake calipers from s16 and metal hoses for the front brakes (because it was a 105bhp the rear beam is fitted with drums)

I was thinking of lowering a bit with a 106/saxo springs but lately i have been climbing some nasty roads..(you know comunism is not fully gone) and i have reconsidered this idea

okay, a few new things here:

- 106 eibach springs (don't know how much mm) with Konis with soft/hard adjustment (left one is a bit trashed - you'll see)

- upgrade to the oil sump (on some models it's already fitted 605 i think)

- tried some stock citroen zx's shocks at the rear (boge turbo) but didn't like them, so the old ones (original gti) were fitted back

the car was very capable of doing some good time

IMG_5960.JPG

IMG_6014.JPG

IMG_6029.JPG

but there was a wiring issue and when i fixed it the time for setting time was over

a friend of mine was driving, also and he did a good time but on one of the laps on the final qualification the following happened <_<

so the car was able to run on 4 wheels but with a cracked radiator.

new (old) was fitted, the bodywork has been done

o633829509023192500.jpg

o633829509056161250.jpg

however, the left wheel had too much camber compared to the right one

IMG_6210.JPG

and now the left side is a bit lower from the right one. it seems the shock is damaged because we have changed everything in the front (wishbones, axles) and the only thing left is the yello' koni

so I am driving it in the way it is right now (if you are in front of the car you see the front wheels are | \ ) <_<

the last thing is big brakes from 306 - 266mm with ferodo pads and new brembo discs and also metal hoses

and of course white speedlines

and check out a friend of mine - original stock '86 1.6 ( so shiny :) )

The dyno showed 149hp@wheels (gti6 throttle body, inlet and injectors, audi 1.8t coilpacks, megasquirt 2.2).

As you see, there is some drop after 6300rpm, so I'm guessing either the TPS isn't working fine or there are some issues with the ecu, will check with new TPS soon

Unfortunately, the head gasket has blown again:

post-12233-0-33369600-1388187692_thumb.jpg

I've ordered MLS cometic now, and still waiting for it (think it comes from USA only?)

While waiting, the head has been checked and rebuilt with new valves and fully polished.

Also, modified gti-6 exhaust manifold for a MI head is on the way, and exhaust pipes 63mm, and expecting around 165-170@wheels with the TPS (or ecu) fixed.
