Be3 Clutch Arm Removal

Recommended Posts

Juttie205

Im about to start a rebuild on a be3 box for a friend and i have undone the nut on the pin that holds clutch arm on how does this pin come out is it just a plain pin or threaded all way as ive only ever done be1 ones which use 2 pins.

Many thanks

there aren't any nuts on a be3 clutch arm pin.

it is however threaded so you can attach a slide hammer.

BE1 has no pins at all on the clutch arm?! they sit on a ball and are operated by a quadrant pushing an intermediate rod.

Ok well the threaded end is wrong side to fit a slide hammer will have to think of a way to remove.

Only a third or so of the pin is threaded and it should be pointing forward toward the radiator , if someone has fitted it the wrong way round you are going to have a big job to get it out . I always use a number of washers slid onto the thread then a 7mm nut ( an old strut top nut ) to wind the pin out , when the nut bottoms out just put more washers underneath .

If the threads the wrong way, your going to have to cut it. I have drilled one out and made a special bolt before now when i was in a hurry.

I do exactly that as well

Weld a nut on the end and use it to lever it out, might find the heat helps to break the bond too.
