Thrust Washer Movement

Recommended Posts

happypatrol

I'm currently replacing my bottom end due to a cracked block. In the process ended up building the best engine I can with two different 1.9 engines.

Got new big ends and main bearing to fit. Crank is in and spinning lovely. End float seems good.

But the new thrust washers if I rock the crank Back and forward I can see the washer moving on the end cap side. I've looked and they're the correct size. It's just that they aren't tightly fixed and this allows them to move very slightly back and forward as I rock it.

I know when it runs it's obviously not going to be rocking and only turning one way. But should the washers be able to move. Is this ok ?

I've spent a lot of time and money now. And I'm a bit paranoid it's going to go bad.

Any advise would be great.

The crank only rotates in one direction, thus they'll sit in the correct place once going.
