Moulded Carpet Reproduction For The 205 Gti

Recommended Posts

Newton Commercial

Morning All,

My name is Shaun and I work for a company called Newton Commercial. Newtons specialize in reproduction classic car interiors. We have been asked recently about producing a moulded carpet for the 205 GTI. We are currently doing research to see if the interest is there for us to manufacture the moulded carpet. We have checked our current red carpet and it is a very close match.

We love to here your feedback.

Thanks

Shaun

I'd be interested if the price was right. I have a carpet available if you need a template.

Thanks,

Darren

Seeing as they are available in colours other than red I would be very interested, off course it does depend on the price too.

Hi All,

Thanks for your feedback so far. The cost really depends on the qty's as the tooling is quite expensive. A rough estimate on price would be around £170-200.

Please keep your feedback coming.

Shaun

would you be looking at doing the Cti carpets as well? I take it they will have the rubbery/plastic heel bits embedded in them?

I'd certainly be very interested in one. Would your red be close enough to the centre console/door card carpet to match?

Would you also be able to supply the sound deadening underlay carpet?

Even though mine is relatively good I'd be interested. Then again, seeing as you do car interiors I'd throw money at you for reproduced dash parts in less brittle plastic!

What about moulded carpet with a thick/thin sponge backing like newer cars? This would then do away with the sound deadening material requirement.

That's a good idea, if your remaking it, why not improve it too!

With the way that 205's tend to leak I'd rather not have the sponge backing. It's just asking for your nice new purchase to be ruined.

If the sound deadening is separate it can at least be removed easily without causing many issues.

One for a cti would be good too as my red carpet is now pink.
