After a lot of work,

-wheel bearings

-driveshaft oil seals

-service

and lots more i cant think of off the top of my head..

I finally got chance to drive it out of my unit under its own steam (i was only sat on an old wheel as seat bars are to follow lol)

I gave it a quick blip up and down on some private land and took some pics in the sun, its come a long way in the last 8 months !

8 months ago - a £150 non running 205 donor car

Last weekend - a £2500 nearly track ready 205 weapon :D

Looking back on the amount of chew iv had with it, and the costs involved and time ive put into it, it feels good to get it to this stage.

Things to do before first track day;

-Stud and nut conversion

-New wheels (i have got some nice light-weight team dynamics pro-race 1.2's) 15" x 7"

-Tyres im going to try get some slicks off a contact of mine - hopefully they wont rub with 7" wheels and the back being so low, they are approx same size as 195 50 15

-Get some seat rails welded in for drivers seat

-Finish relocating battery

-Lowering springs on front

-Fit last 2 harness eye bolts and get harnesses in

Few questions

What do people think of progress?

What lowering springs should i put on the front to match the back and handle best?

thanks :)

well i think you have the wrong idea of what a restoration is! considering the title of your post? and am a little sad that you are destroying another 205 gti when you already had a car that was half built for the track :(

personally i would say it looks like you have saved this car as it might been heading for the scrapper at £150. Your car mate, do what you want with it!!

Very nice progress. Just wondering have the wing mirrors been masked off and painted or are they different mirrors to the original? They look really smart.
