Throttle Body Pipe Connections

Recommended Posts

Tedglenn

Guys, Just trying to sort out my stock 1.9 which is fitted with a standard throtle body but a K & N filter kit etc.

Under the throttle body what does the angled outlet go to ? There is a V arrangement of 2 pipes connected to the cooling system..more on that below...the brass pipe for the vacuum advance and then an outlet at an angle. there is nothing connected to it on mine. i am guessing it has a function on a stock set up ? I don't like the idea of an open outlet here its gonna mess soemthing up...

Also, the 2 water pipes in a V. can i just get rid of them and connect them back to back in the engine bay. i am told they are not needed in the Uk . I am guessing all they do is pre heat something. If I remember one is from thermostat housing and other back to expansion bottle. Thanks Ian.

Yes the Brass take off goes to the Dizzy vacuum advance unit, water pipes again as you have said can be bypassed with the expansion bottle going to the stat housing take off

You can on some TB's have a 3 alloy take off which is not used and on very late model's have another take off for the emission systems which again can be blanked off
