steve@cornwall 100 Posted February 20, 2010 Just started recommissioning the CTi - New tyre, fresh battery and filled with coolant - started great, revved lovely but was dripping water. Seeing as I was pouring water from a kettle I reckoned it was spillage but just didn't stop when up to heat. Gave a good rev and rusty coloured water appeared on the floor It is visibly weeping from a crack at the back of the head and inspecting the back of the block (painted last year) there is a nice crack running through that too I thought it was OK through the recent cold weather, although the coolant was low due to a leaky heater matrix. steve@cornwall 100 Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) I didn't think there was any coolant in it! But basically, yes, freezing weather, insufficient anti freeze, and stupidity, really. No-one or nothing to blame but myself. Was thinking of building the 1.9 into the Mi block to 16v it,or fitting a 1.6 from the garage or the 1.9 from my GTi, then replacing the 1.6 in the GTi and returning that to 100% original - decisions, decisions. I also know of a K plate CTi lying about locally that looks good apart from the rear window- I may make enquiries on that this week.
