Good progress so far, nice little project.

Was the car a graphite grey before the respray ?

I like the alternator belt tensioner in that position, i fitted mine the other way round, as in belt under it not over it.

A word of advice, make sure you air blow the inside of the inlet after powder coating as bits of sandblasting grit can get inside and then go into your engine and fook it up. The problem with the inlet is the oil breather side of things, so inside can be tacky with oil so maybe get it well cleaned inside too before powder coating, plus it may make the inlet perform better.

I really want a white and Miami blue 205 gti, guess ill have to wait, looking forward to more updates :)

maybe the angle of the pic, but the top arm looks like a phase2 xsara one which wont work in a 205.

Yes it is different to the usual XU10 type, the back where the nuts go is high not flat and has a curve to it.

gti6 starter will be fine. as for the mc, some people use washers to space the bottom of the mc up, others elongate the holes and effectively move the whole thing a few mm up

a little bit of m/c trimming and some spacers under the servo

by a bit of trimming do you mean grind a bit off it? it seems to have enough clearance on the top its just the side with the cambelt thats touching will it be ok to move it over a bit

you may want to fit the inlet manifold before putting the rad/fan in.

inlet is away being powder coated i thought there would be room? is it a tight fit then?

you can move it over a little with some spacers or grind a little of the side off.

have a noise on my thread with afew pics of m/c clearance - http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=130377&hl=&fromsearch=1

time for a small update not much going on as still waiting on the loom

ok so sorting out the mc clearance i spaced the back of the pedal box on one side to angle it over a bit but still didnt have enough clearance so i have drilled the engine mounts out a bit to slide the whole engine and gearbox over it only need a few mm and seems to have worked a treat

IMG_04961.jpg

IMG_04981.jpg

IMG_04991.jpg

IMG_05001.jpg

IMG_05021.jpg

really wish i had not cut so much out the cam cover now as it was unnecessary will have to repair it some how

the second problom i came across was the thermostat adaptor i got from bbm the hole was not machined enough to wind a bolt in

IMG_05031.jpg

IMG_05041.jpg

a bit of grinding with the die grinder sorted this

IMG_05061.jpg

IMG_05081.jpg

IMG_05091.jpg

apart from 2 of the threads ripping out the head when bolting all together it is all sorted now i would advise anyone doing one of these to rethread the holes before fitting

IMG_05121.jpg

found a fix for blacking off the black box under the inlet manifold using a core plug

IMG_05271.jpg

inlet is painted and back together rocker covers are in the same colour

IMG_05281.jpg

IMG_05291.jpg

thats it for now hopefully the loom will arrive monday and i can start it
