Emerald Tacho Driver

Quick question....

Will the Emerald K3 Rev counter output drive the newer style BX type rev-counters, the ones some people use for GTi-6 conversions etc, or am I going to have to go aftermarket?

Cheers!

Super Josh

It should work fine, any clocks that are designed to be driven directly by an ECU should work with an Emerald.

Great, cheers. Just have to find one now!

Is it just the BX stuff or can the tacho 'workings' from most PSA stuff be used??

Right, going to try soldering the feed signal direct to the chip on the rev-counter PCB, see if that works. Job for the weekend.

It works! Soldered the tacho feed from the Emerald to the chip side of a capacitor thats connected to the chip on pin 1.

It seems a bit lazy, but thats a characteristic of the emerald feeding the rev counter I expect. When I first started it up to test it, the revs were about 400rpm out throughout the range, so I pulled the needle off the tacho and repositioned it. Much better now!
