Xud Larger Turbo Upgrade.

Recommended Posts

Strictly_Derv

I'm currently in the process of building some adaptor plates to fit a K04 off an Audi TT 225bhp too my XUD.

With the turbo fitted on, and with my pump at its cuurrent settings should produce around 160bhp. And with a few fueling adjustments bring it close to 180-200bhp

He's some pics anyway of what's been done so far...

Hopefully will have some updates later as my 20mm countersunk drill bit has arrived

Max.

Would probably do more if it had a larger elbow!

Yep my thoughts exactly. Good work fitting a big turbo but that poxy elbow suited to a 90bhp car will strangle it.

I'll get round to making another elbow up after it's fitted.

It's nearly done now! Just need to sharper up a drill bit and drill a few more holes

I thought you couldn't use turbos from a petrol engine on a diesel - exhaust temps too high or something like that

P.s. loving the mahoosive windmill

other way round, Diesel EGT's are lower.

You could just weld a 3" 90 bend to your flange and then to your downpipe, it would make it much easier for you and would flow slightly better

Yeah I saw your thread. Fit okay?

Did you say you had clearance issues on Ryans 205 with the TD04?

Fine :)

Yep, clashed with the bulkhead pretty badly I remember him saying. See how you get on, French tolerances and all that

Whats wrong with the angle?

The one on the engine is just a mockup hence the molegrips. The last few pics its flat as the stock one.

I think it might be the photos at a weird angle but in one of them it looks like you will struggle to bolt the exhaust on?

I assumed it was still tilting to the right as it was on the vice grip picture. But it seems better on the later pictures, sorry =]

Yeah should have said really, they where just a tester to see if it would clear things. Cheers though.

The pic of the exhaust manifold do look worse than it actually is but yes abit of grinding may be required haha

iphone fail that was..need some better ones, it's got a faily large boost leak ATM but it does pull so much harder than before and still remains drivable as it builds boost at 1500rpm, full 27psi at 3,500.

Sounds pretty damn good. Were there any issues with under bonnet clearances / fueling it now you have got all that boost going in?

Any idea on the power output at all?? :s

Plopped straight in, plenty of room. Well i've increased the fuel so it's boosting 30psi, it has a bit to go but there's a few mods I know to get more fuel. Goes bloody well for what it is.

Yes Paul I will. Would like to see how it goes against yours (not the diesel nasper lol)

Wow, 30psi? I wonder what will go bang first..... ^_^

Are you having to run this much to clean up the exhaust smoke? I'm more used to HDi's these days, so I'm out of the loop as to if this is typical for an XUD engine at this power output!

I have to feed the throttle in, can't really just bang it down otherwise it will just smoke a treat till it reaches builds enough boost

It's more about flow than pressure, you'll find quite a few decent builds running less boost than the basic tuned XUD's, not sure exactly what he had done to it, but I iknow a guy near Gloucester that has a DTurbo with a big intercooler and a hybrid turbo, no idea of the pump, but about 1.5 bar for 150 odd bhp.
