Fitting A 3Rd Buffer Mount

I have a new spare top buffer mount and would like to go ahead and wack it in, its for my 205 Mi16 to help reduce side movement protecting the master cylinder from rubbing under hard cornering.

 

How have you done it?

 

Im thinking support the engine with a trolley jack under the sump

remove mi16 top mount

drill and treat hole to prevent future rusting

remove little metal tongue on mount to fit flush

fit extra washer spacer

That's one way, or the other way if you don't want to drill the shell, is to use a 306 buffer mount and cut one side of it off.

Sounds good. I'm not familiar with a 306 how is it secured? I would be happier with out drilling the shell.

Has a hole in the centre. Sits down over the engine mount stud.

It's the reverse to a 205 if you like.

 

Whereas on a 205 the buffers are attached to the shell and point inwards, on a 306 that are clamped between the mount and the arm and point outwards.
