Xantia Xu5Jp Engine Tuning

Recommended Posts

tioklou

Hi and nice to meet you in the forum. i would like to ask you about the differences between an xu5jp engine (90hp) and an xu5j-xu5ja one? what is the main reason of the horsepower difference? the camshaft? the compression? the map on the ecu? can we give to this engine an encrease in power? Thank you very much.

Compression isnt much lower, main difference is the camshaft, cylinder head is the same, inlet runners look much smaller, possibly throttle body though I have not measured them.

tbh in a xantia I would find an xu10.

thank you very much for your reply. Of course an xu10 should be a great upgrade for this car but here in Greece its cheaper if you have cars with low cc. does a camshaft from an xu5ja fit straight on? i can also measure a spare throttle body and intake that i have and tell you.

Hi again. I just measure the throttle body and its quite small 43mm. so as the intake manifold. the manifold is like the xu10j2te one in shape but plastic. is there anything that i can do and give me some hp gains? thanks.

Hello again

I want to ask if someone knows the specs of the camshaft on the xu5jp engine. Does the camshaft of the xu5ja fits straight away?

other than shimming to suit it will go straight in, its the same head as a gti.

a 205 gti or 1.9 zx volcane intake manifold will fit, xu10 does not.

can you fit a turbo?

i would lke to keep it naturally aspirated although the turbo would be great for horsepower increase. what do you mean "shimming to suit"?

the head has the bigger gti valves?
