Peugeot 405 Paint Code Help

Recommended Posts

GeorgeXS

Hi all,

I need some help finding out what the paint code is on my 405.

Here's the car:

photo%203_zpstj3zhrre.jpg

I've tried a few things but not got anywhere. Looked for the code on the N/S strut but it's half rubbed off, only the M at the beginning remains, which isn't very helpful as I know it's metallic already!

Looking at the paintcode thread (http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=70182) on this forum it reveals 5 possibilities of metallic/pearlescent colours (and a few different codes within them):

Pagoda

Alhambra

Diablo

Morello

Vulcan

I remember diablo being a popular 306 colour but the rest i'm not sure on, googled the rest with varied results, it's difficult to tell, they're all similar!

Finally i've put the VIN into servicebox which has only told me it's metallic paint, can't see a code anywhere. It gives a colour code for the leather seats, am I missing the paint somewhere?

Can anyone help?

Definitely not Alhambra which is that's M4JF and look like this

I would go with Diablo red, though as with any red, it depends on shade and primer and fading, best to get it matched.

I thought that the later 405's were Diablo the same as 306's etc - certainly looks the same and suffers the same chronic lacquer peel issues from what I've seen!

I saw a lemans for sale not long ago and it looked like a reshell.... The shell looked a different colour to the doors and wings so I'd say the lower spec metallic red is different to the lemans red

Sorry missed that part george, I'm sat in the pub so just reading what I want to! :D

It does look very similar and mine is certainly suffering some really bad lacquer peel! I'm not going to be hugely anal about the paint match on the car anyway, 3 doors have been replaced at some point in the past so the colour is already a bit variable.

Diablo seems to be readily available from Hellfrauds so i'll probably buy a can and see how close it is before going any further.

Yeah the LeMans do look a little different, a touch darker. Not a problem, now get off your phone and talk to people in the pub! :P

If my experiences of Halfords paints are anything to go by, I'd choose almost anywhere else to buy it from!

Hmm fair point, i'll have to see how lazy i'm feeling when I get around to this. I live about 100m from one so it's very convenient!

Don't waste your money is my advice. Find a proper paint factor and get some mixed to the car. If the guy doing it is any good it should be a decent match. My local one does aerosol cans if that's what you need.

Are they really that bad? I've only bought graffiti paint from halfords own brand before, that's been very good. I only really need 1 can, I have a new front bumper to go on as the current one is cracked badly, so all i've got to do is the painted centre section of the bumper.

Ask anyone that's bought Halfords Peugeot Alpine White... or "Hearing Aid Beige" as it should have been labelled. It really is that bad :D

If you must use something off the shelf, I've found Holts to be reasonable in terms of quality and colour match.

Fair enough! Well i'm in no particular rush, so I really should do it properly.
