Poly Suspensionbushes Mi16(x4)

Anyone here know where to get some? Can't seem to find any specific for the 405. 106, 205 and even 309! but not 405. Have a spare set of lower front arms I'm thinking of dolling up. But i can't find any. I'd think that the bushes might be the same no matter which 405, being that polybush manufacturer wouldn't differentiate if size and mounting are the same.

 

Any ideas?

I looked into this a while ago for my car and you are right you cannot buy them! The front wishbones seem to be only sold new as a complete unit with bushes, so the bushes are meant to be a replaceable part. However this is not to say that it could not be done. For the normal bush (not the P-bush) you could have them machined yourself if you bought a billet of material the right diameter (the companies that sell polybushes will almost certainly sell bars of the stuff too and maybe even do custom bushes). For the P-bush I am not sure what your options are though....

A lot of firms have "universal" bushes, and I'm sure if i took the measurements, i could find some that fitted the forward of the bushes. But the rear one (P-bush) isn't to my knowledge used on any other PSA model. And who knows if anyone could "cast" one.....

Can't you just remove the rubber from the p-bush and fill with PU?

 

Then drill hole with correct diameter and mount on the rear arm?

 

I'm not sure it would be so much harder than that really.

 

The front one must be easy to get, have oyu checked if it has the same dimensions as the 205/309 one?

Why would you bother with polybushes?

I don't think good stock bushes (Kleber) work so much worse than poly bushes in that particular location.

It would be just a matter of changing them a bit more often to avoid any excessive play in them, or, if you must fiddle with those, you should convert straight to custom solid bushes, preferably with bronze inserts or yet better, bearings.

 

But again, I don't think that stock bushes hinder the handling materially.

im looking into solid bushes/bearings, is there and down sides to solid bushes? extra strain on subframe?

Yes, that is always the downside of any solid items compared to stock. Where rubber takes energy from impact in stock items, the chassis/shell take it.

The same goes for harder tires and firmer suspension - the energy of impact is not absorbed as much and goes through to the chassis.

but people use rose joints which must have zero give in them is this correct? my car will be track only so no compromise for comfort

For rose joints you would have to fundamentally reconstruct the suspension arms, or just scrap stock ones and fabricate custom arms with adjustable rose joints.

i heard of a company called super flex maybe try them as for the p bushes the solid p bushes of of a 306 can be made to fit using larger studs. as the 306 use smaller studs to connect to the subframe other than that im sure theyed be a perfect fit . someone correct me if im wrong . and the company that makes these is lynx engineering but i warn you they aint cheap.

They would have the same stiffness AFAIK if bronze is used as a coating between the wishbone pin and the bush.

Re the 306 items - allegedly they are the same as Partner bushes.

 

I have a stock 405 and a stock alloy Partner one. They are not compatible at all.

The inner diameter for the pin is larger than the 405 one.

The mounting bolt hole is smaller than the 405 (not a problem).

The biggest issue is that the distance between the axle of wishbone pin and the mounting bolt hole is much longer in the Partner item compared to the 405 one. This will mean that the front and rear axle of the wishbone will not align when mounted to the subframe as the rear part will stick out. In turn, the front strut with the hub will be pushed outwards and point towards inside the chassis. And finally, the front driveshafts will be forced out of the gearbox diff or at least out of their joints. Hardly worth it.

 

Otherwise, new mounting points should be made for the rear bushes to accomodate for the mentioned difference.

However, as a plus for this setup - the way the 306/Partner bush is made allows for easy conversion into billet bush inserts as a conventional round bush (almost - it has an anti-roll grove in the bush body)
