[project] 205 With Honda Rear Engine

Recommended Posts

Carl Chambers

The guys in the workshop next to mine were after a new project, and having an old Honda vtec estate laying around the ideas started to flow, a Nova and a 106 was mentioned but I had a 205 STDT shell which was going to scrap so this was donated.

Its just the start but here are them both ready to be cut and shut so to speak,

this is true, but they have almost finished a Ford Anglia which has had all the floor made to take Escort mk 2 running gear with a Vauxhall redtop in, plus a Westfield with a bike engine in so should be ok.

Air hacksaw and grinder cutting discs, someone else was using the plasma cutter and didnt want to use gas torch as the carpets etc where still in the car and it makes such a mess. Did use nearly a box of cutting discs mind!

wow

not hanging about looks a good fit.

have you worked out yet things like gear linkage? exhaust, radiator etc

i presume you be fitting the fuel tank in the front to help balance the car.

its almost perfect fit!

Rad, battery and tank will go in the front to give the nose some wieght, gear linkage is going to be fun as it goes in the back of the gearbox at the bottom so its going to take some thinking?

Exhaust will go in the space behind the engine in the boot, and maybe have an exit out of each foglight hole as they wont be needed being as its going to be track car only.

Weight split will be whatever it ends up, no plan made, just built it and have fun as you say, sadly its not mine but I sure I will get a drive as I donated the shell!

A custom cages roll cage has been ordered and welded in along with a lot of other welding to make the rear of the shell nice and strong;

don't some of the honda gearbox's run a cable shift? could get around the whole linkage issue?

Just briliant :o

I guess running cables is the solution for this conversion

Like this but with an extension and with turning back loop

They certainly aren't hanging about and I have to say that it looks awesome!

Something about the impulsive 'suck it and see' method really appeal to me.

The wiring has now been started which is always a pain!

Spent ages working out why the fuel pump would not prime or go when cranking only to find an earth had been snagged by mistake while removing the loom from the Honda!!

Just got to work out whats needed now and get rid of whats not then mount it all in the car.

Brave project!

Random question, is the passenger side driving light in the front bumper from the civic still intact?
