406 Non Abs Master On 205

Recommended Posts

Caddyshack

I have got a Cosworth 4x4 205 and I run the cossie callipers on big discs, I have a 205 servo but with 406 non abs master cylinder and it has quite a long pedal. I have a 306 gti servo to add but will need to cut the scuttle to fit it.

Has anyone found a way around the long pedal? I thought miles had posted about this but I couldn't find the thread.

I would have thought the master was big enough for the cossie brakes, they are single pot.post-23525-0-81921200-1488720467_thumb.jpg

How big are the pistons on the Cossie calipers?

If the rod inside the servo isn't adjusted correctly that can cause a long pedal, or rather, dead travel at the top of the pedal.

Thanks, I believe they are 40mm pistons x31mm on the front and smaller on the rear.

My gti6 pug 205 has got the 306 callipers and standard servo and m/c and that has a lovely pedal on it.

I believe I have got the rod adjusted up in the servo so that the smallest movement on the pedal gets the piston moving, my pedal gets very close to the floor and I know it is not an issue of bleeding.

40mm piston seems rather small, the gti6 has a 57mm piston, 205 rear discs are 30mm.

if they're escort calipers I can see on the internet that they are 60mm single piston, so the pedal shouldn't be much longer than your other car, if the pedal is that long on them that it gets near the floor then it really does sound like it needs more bleeding.

I know why you mean. I have a sealey pressure bleeder on the mc, I have a suction bleeder on the nipple ans I can feed a whole bottle of fluid really easily, I have done each corner and pumped the pedal.

I will do some more bleeding to rule it out.

Thank you. I know you know your stuff

How old is the master cylinder? If it's old and you've pumped the pedal to the floor while bleeding it might have damaged the seals so some fluid is leaking back into the reservoir when you brake rather than all reaching the calipers.
