Rear Caliper Retaining Plate

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, this is the first time I've ever been unable to find an answer on the forum and I think its probably because my terminology is dodgy! I'm in the process of cleaning up my rear brake calipers (standard 1.9) and one of them has a broken 'retaining plate'. That's what it is labelled as in the old Haynes manual anyway but I've got no joy searching this anywhere! Its the bracing strip that fits between the two mounting bolts round the back, I imagine it may have a different name to the one Mr Haynes suggests? Anyway, its not immediately clear to me what it is actually there for but as it's brakes I'd be pretty keen to replace it! Presumably it does offer some additional resistance to the mounting bolts coming undone. Anyone know where I can get one or even what I should be calling it?!

You would be referring to these. No.4 in the diagram still available from

Peugeot. post-8526-0-16208900-1490049320_thumb.pngpost-8526-0-85775300-1490049426_thumb.png

Indeed I am! Thanks very much. Any idea what they call them? Just out of interest!

I can't remember the last time I had any of those on my 205s. I'm pretty sure they aren't used on many of the other Peugeot, Citroen and Renault cars that use the same calipers.
