Headlamp Loose?!?

Recommended Posts

Justin181

Hi guys.. just bought a 205 gti and im currently making a list of bits it needs. Both the front headlamps are in and secure but they are loose like up and down movement!. The adjuster arm is connected at the top but they still move up and down.. can anyone shed some light on this please (no pun intended) ????

How much do they move? 205 headlights aren't rigidly mounted unlike most newer cars and there is a degree of springiness in the vertical aim adjustment.

Check that the headlight is properly attached to the spring clips on the inner and outer mounting points. I've seen a couple of cars recently where the outer spring clips on the indicator have been missing and the headlight thus not properly attached, allowing the whole headlight assembly to move.

there's a lug each side that it pivots on and a small link piece on the indicator side to the vertical adjuster.
