[car_upgrade] Kent's Peugeot 205

Recommended Posts

kent

Hi

A thought it was time to write something about my car and it's progress.

I bought the car 2001 so I have had it for a while.

Here is a picture of the standard engine bay. Looked like this when I bought it. The only modification i have done is cleaned it, mounted new air filter and mooved the battery.

Found a Zenderkit so I made some moulds then mounted it. At the same time a fabricated a carboonfiber wing. The car looked like this for a while.

HPIM0288.JPG

Bought a 16V engine from a Bx16V. Good condition :)

Mounted it...

New brakes and springs.

The status right now is that the car is running on MegaSquirt V3 and the rear part of the rollcage is welded in.

And soon the winterproject starts :)

If you have a mould for the Zender valance in your first picture people are going to be very happy with you around here. It's the same front valance Shinyracing uses on his car and a lot of people want it. Maybe you could start your own group buy with it.

I personally think the optical tuning is a little over the top but I have a lot of respect for people who do all this by themselve. So maybe I wouldn't go the same route but you're giving your car a lot of attention.

Enjoy it!

Thanx for the attention huckleberry.

Started today to calculate the compressionratio on the engine to se how much I need to modify it.

Bore=86mm

Piston upper position and distance to the edge= 1,1mm

V= pi x 43² x 1,1

V= 6,4cm³

Steelgasket 3mm

V= pi x 43² x 3

V= 17,4cm³

Detonation space in cylinderhead (unmodifyed)

V=36cm³

Piston lower position and distance to the edge= 86,8mm

V= pi x 43² x 86,8

V= 504,2cm³

Vdetonation

Vdetonation=6,4cm³ + 17,4cm³ + 36cm³

Vdetonation=59,8cm³

Vtotal

Vtot=504,2cm³ + 17,4cm³ + 36cm³

Vtot=557,6cm³

Compressionratio

Compr.=557,6cm³ / 59,8cm³

Compr.= 9,3:1

Conclusion to high!

Like I calculated if I mount the engine as it is today I have compressionratio 9,3:1 which is to high.

If I play with the numers and I take 1mm off the pistions I get 8,6:1 which is better :D . Looks like it is the only way except to look for other pistions.

TEKNOPUG

Can you not fit a thicker gasket (Spesso for example) or even a spacer plate?

welshpug

why is 9.3-1 too high??

VW run the FSiT at 11-1!

TEKNOPUG = Im already planning to buy a 3mm cometic gasket. Where can I find Spesso? And I dont want a spacer plate.

welshpug= I want to be a little more safe.

B1ack_Mi16

I thought the Mi16 head had more like 39-40cc combustionchamber volume and not 36 like you have used.

B1ack_Mi16 = The cylinder head is machined so its flat. Thats why I have less volume. He took like 0,4mm.

I have figured a way out to get this good now :rolleyes: . I take the pistons from my other motor and modify them. Then I can use my original cylinder head gasket. And the piston is thicker than original ;) .

My calculations.

Bore=86mm

Piston upper position and distance to the edge= 4,2mm

V= pi x 43² x 4,2

V= 24,4cm³

Headgasket 1,25mm

V= pi x 43² x 1,25

V= 7,3cm³

Detonation space in cylinderhead (unmodifyed)

V=36cm³

Piston lower position and distance to the edge= 82,2mm

V= pi x 43² x 82,2

V= 477,5cm³

Vdetonation

Vdetonation=24,4cm³ + 7,3cm³ + 36cm³

Vdetonation=67,7cm³

Vtotal

Vtot=477,5cm³ + 7,3cm³ + 36cm³

Vtot=520,8cm³

Compressionratio

Compr.=520,8cm³ / 67,7cm³

Compr.= 7,7:1

Which means that I can adjust to what I want. I aim to around 8,5:1.

Has'nt make any big progress due to work.

But sketched up a exhaust manifold this evening. Flange for turbo and WG needs to be added.

So this is my first sketch. No measures taken.

Something has happened again :D

Continued with my rollcage build and piced out the dash. And found some rust I need to deal with before I can continue. Tried to TIG weld a new sheet metal in but not so easy with bad surfaces :P . Need to get another weld machine before I can continue with the rust and the cage.

And it will be interesting if I can get the dash back in again. And if I can get the cage in with the fusebox in that position.

Got some material for my exhaust manifold. And next week 12m pipe will arrive at my garage. 6m for the manifold and 6m for the cage.

Rorigt.jpg

And have checked 2pcs of 309 rear axles I have. 1st one :D (look picture). And the 2nd one ... the right side is perfect but on the left side is the outer bearing like dust. Need to se if it is fixable. Any ideas?

Judging by those pictures id say your beam is scrap. You will probably need a new beam tube and two trailing arm shafts. Best idea is to find a decent base model beam in a scrap yard to get the tube and maybe the arm shafts (as long as the i/d is correct), then use the torsion bars and anti roll bar from the GTI beam to build a good beam back up. :D

taylorspug: Is not easy to find good 309 axles in Sweden :P . But I will try to fix the 2nd 309 axle I got and then use the torsion bars from the 309gti16 on it.

And some funny things found the way home to me today :)
