Balls deep indeed, up to the buffers!

Did you remove all of the underseal with a wire brush?

yes a wire wheel attachment on an angle grinder, works a treat under seal goes everywhere very quickly. also very good on rusty pitted areas too, don't use it on round holes in panels tho as it quickly elongates them.

Very nice so far. Good to see a 205 on a roll over jig getting the works.

What are the walls of your workshop made from?

My car had previously had the entire underside blathered with thick black tar underseal, and I do mean the entire underside, beam, fuel tank, gear linkage the lot.

This gave me hours and hours of tedious scraping to do, but also meant there was no rot to repair. From the fuel tank lip backwards there was some grotty bits, so I stripped that back to bare metal. The floorpans however were on good order and so was the factory coating so I left it alone once cleaned back. I etch primed then epoxy primed the bare metal. Then went over everything with Gravitex textured coating. Finally went over with laser base coat. I haven't lacquered it and don't intend to. But I'm pleased with it, it looks good.

I think it's just plastic, like guttering, a wooden frame with these panels

It's not mine just borrowing the usage

I've been cleaning the underside of many years of oil and grease. And to my surprise the underside Is painted like an off white, and stonechiped on the outside not in the middle?

Then green overspray over the top.

Mine was the same, the only corrosion was in the tunnel where it was not stone chipped.

I think having your underside like it was and having its last owner, I'm not surprised its in better condition than mine. mine needs going back on the sills, jacking points, centre tunnel some random screw holes.

Ok right, i have been cleaning the underside of the boot floor ive cleaned it down with jizer to get the dirt/oil off and started to tackle the rust thats been lurking about under there.

heres some of that rust.

IMG_1415_zps76199d7e.jpg

horrible stuff that is, so out with he tools first with this

IMG_1418_zps65c63a0a.jpg

you can get it to this with a belt sander

IMG_1419_zps37dcd9c0.jpg

then here with a wire wheel attachment on a grinder, the wire wheel does a great job but in some areas it will just polish the top of it looking like its clean when its still lurking underneath

so have been able to put my blast pot into action.

this is were ive been living when on the car

IMG_1475_zps1bc585c7.jpg

horrible place that is, but been able to get results like this so far.

IMG_1455_zpsbf34ff43.jpg

the worst areas still need cleaning are like this

IMG_1457_zpsc022444e.jpg

im hoping some rust converter and maybe another blast will sort it or maybe not bother, sure theres rust between the panels that i cannot get too still there horrible stuff. Theres still loads to go and its taking a while to do.
