306 Hdi

Recommended Posts

Hi there my brother is about to scrap his 2000 306 hdi, I was just wondering before it goes is there anything upgrade wise for my 205 that I could steal? Brakes ect... If anyone knows anything, it would be very much appreciated.

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong section, I wasn't quite sure where it would fit in.

Regards, dexter

Fuel pump has gone unfortunately, I'm not sure if I could justify putting a new/sh pump on

Front brakes will be 266mm and a direct fit to base model or 1.9 hubs, and rear calipers can be used on a 1.9 GTi.

Rear trailing arms give negative camber compared to 205 items.

Wheels will fit straight onto a 205 GTi, but the tyre size is wrong.

Possibly dampers as a mild upgrade over standard 205 items, although I don't know how the HDi dampers compared to the GTi-6 items more commonly used.

is it a 3 or 5dr?

i've got a 3dr one and they do actually go for decent money as they are good mile munchers. i regularly get 550-650 miles to a tank from mine, it can last 3 weeks sometimes. yes they are boring but people are always after them for this very reason.

if the engine is a good runner you could probably sell it for a couple of hundred, or split it apart (turbo etc)

I'm assuming it's the high pressure injection pump that's failed btw?

The in-tank lift pump is a very common failure but not too dear to replace (about £80 new).

Yeah Hp pump, i think I may just break it and sell the parts. Might look into getting a pump will have a look around.

Thanks

It's 5 door, half leather interior. Dark metallically blue, VERY good on fuel and not a bad ride at all.

I've got both a known good hp pump & lift pump if you wanted to fix it.

will the front legs, hubs and calipers fit straight onto a 205 gti/309 gti?

still looking for the info but having no luck, thanks for the info though, so they can't be used then being wrong camber and drop link angle, I was just looking for other alternatives to 205 suspension, 306 is a heavier car so thought it would be better for the 205?

im 99% sure the front struts are an upgrade over standard item - but require the bracket to be moved.

I think the rear dampers share the same part number now from 205/306 gti items.

I also think the hubs can be used if you're desperate - but advisable not to move away from 205 hubs.

you can use the callipers fine -might need longer flexi hoses
