205 Straight D Service & Maintenance!

Recommended Posts

Hey, so I've just bought a 205 1.8 Straight diesel. It's been laying for a couple years and needs some tlc. Basically I've got no paperwork to say it's had any recent work done to it so I'm going to give it a full service.. I've not got much experience and this is my first time playing with a diesel.

The plan is to replace:

-engine oil & filter

-fuel filter

-air filter

-coolant- need to flush it, there's some gunk stuff in the header bottle, not sure if it's oil or what but did a compression test and all is good..

-water pump

-cambelt & tensioner

-alternator belt

-glow plugs

Is there anything else I'm missing? Basically if anyone's got spare time to write out a wee guide or link me to one for doing this stuff.. I've done everything before apart from the fuel filter, water pump, belts, tensioner, plugs. I imagine it's straight forward but I'd like to read up on it before I attempt it.. can't find much on the search bar for servicing diesels.

Cheers.

Wouldn't hurt to change the brake fluid while your at it.
