205 Coolant Temp Sensor Issue

Recommended Posts

rikky

hi there

my miami 205 gti [1.9 K plate, with cat] is having difficulty starting from cold and i believe the CTS sensor is at fault. i ran a plug-in diagnosis Draper tool through it to locate a flashing error number which showed number 14, which says CTS problem - the trouble is actually locating the part to replace.

the engine management light comes on aswell which i thought was unusual as i'm sure when mine failed on my 306 it didn't illuminate the management [completely different setup i know..]

anyway i asked Miles and he's given me some tips and i've dug this up from the Peugeot parts site:

Peugeot, as expected, don't know which it is i require or even if they have the right part in mind so i was wondering if anyone had any ideas/comments/etc?

thanks in advance,

rich :(

Peugeot Part Number is 0242 46 - it's #15 on the diagram above.

GSF Part Number is B93490

Agree it is no 15. It will also turn on eng. management light if the ECU does not detect a signal from the coolant temp sensor. Clever BOSCH eh!

cheers - ordered one. GSF's are a tenner plus a tenner delivery! Genuine is £16+ vat.. cheaper to get it from Pug near work than drive to nearest place. cheapest place to start looking i'd guess

thanks for the help :(

ballhair, schoolboy error - didn't check the actual plug part of the sensor on the loom first properly. looked OK but the actual clasp at the bottom has broke up making it come away from the CTS slightly and bounce off over speedramps etc.

bodged for now - what's the best plan of action? cut this plug off another loom? anyone got a loom they are chopping up?

You can get a new plastic housing for the plug (either new from a wiring specialist or off an old loom) then unclip the pins in the current one and clip them into the new one. No need to cut your loom or crimp new plugs on.
