Convertible Tension Cables

Recommended Posts

Evening!

I've been searching everywhere but couldn't find any info on this!

Could someone tell me where the side cable of the cabrio hood attach (each end of it?). I just got a new top and started fitting it, and just can't figure this out since my old top, for some reason, had no side cables (i guess the previous owner removed them or they actually totally rotted away).

With my new top, I got a pair of cables. They're just wires with a loop at one end and just cut at the other. really confusing

Cables run along a channel sewn into the edge of the roof. At the front there should be tabs on the sheet metal at the leading edge, so the cable there should be looped. At the rear where they emerge from the sewn channel they pass through a bolt in the frame behind the rear window. and are retained by a nut, similar to cycle brakes. They rust away. I had new stainless ones made up at a Chandler's for pocket change.

Has anyone had a spare set made up of these and are for sale? I have a new roof in the loft and might swap it this winter. May as well swap these whilst I am doing it

Henry, if you've got a good Chandler's or boat yard close by, they can crimp one end of a cable in a loop. Get plenty of length so you can cut off the excess when fitted.
