Recommended Posts

Ed, if you were to ever sell the white mi (I would have to do you over the canister with a shovel) dont ever take less than about £3700. It is absolutely MINT. Anyway, when am I going to get to see this sorrento first hand?

Quick update,

Finally received my shorter engine mount from Burton Motorsport (nice find Spiky!) and thought I'd take some pics to show how much smaller than the normal 205 one. Its actually for a Mrk 2 escort but fits absolutely perfectly. All i need to do now is make up a spacer for the gearbox side.

Meanwhile i cleaned up and painted the inlet manifold and put the new badge on.

I'm now hoping GSF hurry up with my Mi16 clutch kit which is hopefully on its way then I can put the gearbox on and maybe drop the engine in very shortly :( cheers for all the comments, keep them coming.

Update time,

Not gonna write much, let the pictures do the talking! I finally sorted out a New Mi16 valeo clutch kit and that is now fitted. I have also ad the original wheel blts chromed for £2.50per bolt instead of the disgraceful £4.87 Pug sell them for!!

Had my new Yokohama Parada and Eagle F1s fitted to my powder coated wheels. Well pleased with how they came out.

The exhaust manifold has now been wrapped and I await the new nuts from pug to fit this.

I have recently been sorting out the rear brake lines. Using the existing mounts and Euroquip parts from Rally design. It still needs tidying up a bit but I think it looks tasty (even if I do say so myself B) )

Also purchased some new fork arm bearing and a second hand VSS which are now fitted, cheers Miles!

Some rear Avo adjustable shocks are a recent purchase, I'm also intending to get some fronts when money allows and put the Bilsteins on my white Mi.

Engine will be in by the next update!

I even pushed the old girl out today to blow some cobwebs off. The only downside to all this work is ive somehow managed to scratch the bonnet B) its not really noticeable but i know its there. I will have to get chips away in once the car is totally finished to touch up any little marks!

How much manifold wrap did you need to use?

Wow Ed, I hardly know what to say. The car's looking absolutely stunning, but I'm gutted for you about the scratch :)

Is it really deep? Remember that I've put much more lacquer on that than your average car  so there's a good depth to work with for polishing stuff like that out. Maybe send me a close up?

Quick question though, how come you've got yokos on the fronts and goodyears on the back?

I bought 2 to begin with but It wasn't enough. Bought the inch wide wrap from here. . .

Its not really deep, its just annoying! you know what its like. Unfortunately It was always bound to happen working on a car in a small garage. I'm actually quite surprised its the first one! I will sort out a picture and get it off to you.

Thats just porn :)

Well I have eagles on my Mi and when I eventually get the sorrento on the road I want to give them a try and see what there like. They are really rubbery/sticky so should be pretty good. I've also got the luxury of swapping them over any time I like.

Cheers for the feedback guys, keep it coming and i'll keep the pictures coming!

Cheers Ed, do you know if the rolls you got were 15, 25 or 50 feet as they do 1" in all of those sizes?

No worries, it was these ones.

It worked out perfectly with no scraps cut off. I used Cv Boot metal ties to hold them in place but metal zip ties would work too i'm sure.

Picked up some more bits from Peugeot, cheers Matt! ;) new battery box/lid, rebound stops for the front shocks and various brake/ fuel pipe clips etc etc

Simply awesome Ed. As for the scratch I'd suggest you find a good wet sanding expert (not me) who can help you make sure that she stays minty when you take any scratches out

Good work Ed, the engine and box look like mine before i put them in, better than new! You wont be dissapointed with the '6 either, my std one is running just as well as my MI on cams did. :)

Keep up the good work and doint worry to much about the scratches, the amount of laquer on that car you could be polishing for days and not break through!

Update time,

The engines in :), went in really easy using a fellow forum members new engine crane (cheers Matt :D ) Now the real work begins with just a matter of connecting up the wiring loom and coolant system :D but having worked out what wires do what I have the engine spinning. Using the smaller mark 2 engine mount meant a spacer being made for the gearbox mount and in the end I have about 5mm between the side of the cambelt cover and master cylinder. I'm yet to decide on the lower engine mount. I'm definitely using a BBm solid mount but after welding plates onto the original fork and drilling new holes its all a bit messy and want to make something a little more simple but I'll keep you updated.

My only question for guys who have completed this conversion is where do you connect the speed sensor wire inside the car? it comes straight from the ECU, I think its a red one?!

Also theres a 'spout' on the inlet manifold what does this do and can it be bunged :) (see pic)

I've decided to use a new 205 pressure gauge on this conversion and I will also have a Mocal pressure sender inside the car. So using a 16mm T piece. I can connect both using the original hole on the 306 block.

New gear rods from Miles. A new set of 16v BBM hoses from Stew will be manipulated to fit this conversion, stainless teel hose clips and a set of PTS stickers from a mate with a vinyl place cost me nothing.

Anyway here we are. . .
