Strange Starting Problem... Already :d

Recommended Posts

BERTMAN

well, ive had the car a day, almost... <_< and weve encountered problem number 1!!!

7/10 times the car will kick over fine and start, 1st time every time with abit of persuasion but the rest of the time the starter wont move, just turn the ignition nothin happens and i get a whining sound?

could this just be loose connections or is a new starter on the cards?

do you even get a click, or just this whine?

XU starters are renowned for faults as you probably know, but they usually click for a while and still start before the solenoids completely give up.

it does click yeh, but if i leave it for 10mins and then come back to it... it will start up as if there wasnt a problem?

The whiney noise is the sound of your starter not turning.

I've got a brand new recon one sat in my shed not needed if you find u need a replacement.

cheers slim, i think because the car was stood for a month or so before i got it that the starter may have just got a bit funny but with a bit of use it hasnt done it since, and hopefully wont!! (fingers crossed)
