Hi, does anyone have any auto data on the v6 cambelt for the d8 engine. I've bought a kit from GSF but it has the later style tensioner. Can this be retro fitted to the earlier engine it looks as though the bolt holes will line up?? Can't seem to find any earlier setups, was this a later revision?

 

Whats the crack with the earlier style tensioner in terms of procedure for releasing and re-tensioning?

you need the later early water pump or cut a lug off your water pump.

much easier to get the tension done on the later eccentric arrangement, far less faff.

Nice one. It does appear to be a lot easier to tension with the later tensioner! To be honest the gates kit that's on it looks in good shape but I need to take the oil pump housing off as its pissing out oil anyway so will put the new kit on.

That makes me feel better as I cut up my water pump on the goodwood hoping it was ok!

That was a f*** of a job, check your camshaft pulleys as one of my had cracked.

For anyone else that comes across this issue you only have to cut a small amount off the side of the pump housing and the tensioner fits fine.

thats the bugger, with the tensioner you leave the middle bolt out till the belt is on then slide it up and fit the last bolt, then use the eccentric bit.

Thanks, I noticed the top bolt hole is slotted so figured as much. Just have to wait on a crank seal then I can put it back together.
