Not half as impatient as I am :(

Gotta order some more stuff tomorrow along the lines of unions for the oil cooler as all the ones I have are straight and probably won't go in with all that kit so close together.

I also spotted these the other day and I really really want a set!

However, I can probably think of more worthy places to spend £1707!

Woop de doo! Finished the oil filtration and cooling system off at last. Also completed the exhaust system, suspect it's gonna be quite loud :)

Braided oil hose is fooking evil! A real bastard to cut and put your hand anywhere near the end of it to receive a prickly treat! B)

Also machined the turbo flanges flat following that thread about people having gaskets blow all the time.

Got the next couple of days off work so might even finish off the downpipes by tuesday if I'm lucky.

It's scarily close to being done! :D

Aah, sorry  Forgot about the pics!

Here's the oil cooler and all the evil plumbing:

oilcooleretc.jpg

And here's my heath-robinson attempt at making the flanges flat B)

manifold2onlathe.jpg

And finally the result:

manifold1flange.jpg

Hoping upon hope for about 260bhp @ 7psi which I'm vaguely confident of achieving as some of the other people who have done turbo conversions on these engines are seeing around 240bhp @ 5psi :D

Judgind by the video posted on here recently, you want to be looking for 1.4bar!

less lathe, more dremel, that turbo flange needs the welds cleaning up a bit to gain you a few more horsies.

Looking bling though.

Sorry mate, you've lost me there

Will probably attack the inside welds with a file before the final (final) fit-up.

Yay! Down pipes fitted first time :D

Well, it's taken a while, but I'm doing the final fit up at long last!

'ere's me TBs and air box:

Here are the turbos (circled is the actuator for the well hidden lower turbo)

post-3444-1134654523_thumb.jpg

Here's the scoops for the intercoolers, taken at night though :P

And lastly the inlets and plumbing to the air box. Should've attached the dump valve to the airbox itself but forgot in my enthusiasm to put it all together so it's stuck to a Tee piece now. Not ideal but hey :)

They are indeed water cooled. I've got a load of shiny aluminium sheet to make heat shielding for the various bits and bobs so hopefully nothing'll melt.

Think I might raise the back end of the bonnet to let some heat out too!

That also releases positive pressure in the engine bay and will prevent lift at high speed, thats a good thing! :)

Bum. Had a look today and it looks like the rear height adjustment on the bonnet's already at it's maximum.

Oh well, all things being well, tomorrow should be the big fire up!

Probably followed by the big fire. Now there's optimism for ya!

Been following this vicariously - loved and lost an e30 325i Touring a few years ago. What you've done so far s brilliant.

Best of luck on for tomorrow matey!

 I know, I'm a bit ashamed of it really, but once it's up and running, I'll go through and systematically sort out the general untidyness!

Just been machining the last couple of bits to finish off the snakes nest of hoses and wire!

Fingers crossed! ^_^

Gay.

Oil system primed OK it seems (although I was s*itting myself just letting it crank over waiting for the gauge to move!)

Fuel system primed OK (nice and stress free that one, just earth the relay and keep an eye out for leaks)

Get the plugs in and leads on, plug the ECU into the car and laptop and...............The software won't recognise the ECU ^_^

TEN MONTHS of work on the mechanicals and it's something electrical that's let me down

Hooray! It works!

Boo, the brakes are taking ages to bleed :(

Here's some piccies though!

My completely standard and inconspicuous looking front end

And the wonderfully neat, tidy and well ordered engine bay!

Note the extreme relevance to this forum: The two 1.9GTi air filters :P
