GilesW 41 Posted February 5, 2017 I have: A highly modified S16 on tb's which should have between 220 & 240bhp. A xsara vts box with 3j plate diff. A ttv mi16 flywheel. A solid helix cerametalic clutch plate. All to go in my 205. Question - clutch clunch cover type: I have all threads parts to convert the xsara box to a push clutch, but should I? As I've yet to buy a clutch cover I (think) I can do either pull or push can't I? In which case which is Better? Doesn't the pull allow a higher clamping pressure, or is that a load of bull? petert 549 Posted February 5, 2017 Pull type clutch will have more clamping pressure for the same diameter, but the higher friction co-efficient of the cerametallic clutch will negate the difference. Also, 205's are push type, thus it's an easier fitting procedure. Are you sure Helix plate will work as either pull or push? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

SweetBadger 91 Posted February 5, 2017 (edited) Hi Giles, that clutch plate combined with a standard clutch was fine on our car which is around 220bhp (194@ wheels). Only issue we had was the clutch straps failing - combination of race use and a solid bottom engine mount I think. I think you'll be ok with a standard mi16 push clutch if it's for road / track day use. Edit: a std clutch plate also worked without any signs of slipping, so I think its unlikely you'll develop enough torque from an NA s16 with 220-250 horses to trouble a std clutch Edited February 5, 2017 by SweetBadger Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
