1400 Injection Into Rallye ?

Recommended Posts

Zacky-94

Ive just brought yellow 205 rallye off a friend of mine no engine in it currently but one comes with it only problem is it has been sat in the garden for 12 months or so in the elements

If it doesnt run could i put a 1400 injection engine in it from a 206 i knownits basicly the same engine so mounts and things shouldnt be a problem ?

What would it be like to wire up?

I know id need a new tank etc

Thanks in advance for any infomation or help cheers

as long as its an early enough 206 it should be relatively straightforward, a better choice would be a 106 or saxo, though theyre all 75 bhp same as the original UK rallye, or there's the 100 bhp TU2J2 S1 rallye engine and 100 bhp TU3J2 early S1 XSI engine

If it's modded the insurance will kill it anyway at a Guess as a engine change limits your choices

Im just going to run a standard injection engine for the time being don't think there is much point in tuning a 1400 to be honest lol

If the Rallye was a carb model, then I think it would be a major job to convert to injection. The wiring is different and you would need to fit an ECU. Much easier to fit another carb engine.

Have a look at my journal, I own a yellow uk rallye with a s1 rallye engine and am replacing it with a s1 xsi engine I rebuilt last Christmas.

We will see what happends haha

It's not that hard. Pretty much the same as most engine conversions.

Thats what i thought to be fair just the tank thats the biggest issue id have thought wiring was the only concern to be honest supose a multi meter and some auto data print outs shouldn't take too long to work out (he says)

Rallyes are iron block, xs are all ally.

Don't think rallyes had twin choke carb.

My smokey ally s1 injection rallye engine will be out in the next month or two If you're interested..

Could even try my car first if you're local enough, see what adding injection does to a rallye ;)

Now this wouldn't suprise me because my spare carb has bigger jets in it than the one thats on it at the moment

They did,

Correct, both had solex Z2's but ever so slightly differently jetted due to the different cams i guess.

Im sure all uk spec rallyes were 1400i 75hp i wanted carb so went for the xs lol and i love it. As for tuning a 1400 i think its more fun when you pull away from 1600 or bigger lol

what have you decided on in the end? injection or carb? I recently bought for my sister a GTX a XS on a single port injector and its surprisingly fast! But you do miss the twin choke jerk!
