205 Ignition Coil Wiring Help?

I have recently fitted a 1.6 engine from a newer car where the ignition coil is mounted on the manifold, only problem is that my car has the original cylinder type coil on the wing. Can anyone tell me where the wires go on the manifold style coil?

 

I'm guessing that I can just extend the wires and plug them into the new coil?

 

Four wires causing confusion..,..any help greatly appreciated.

Just retain your old coil on the inner wing. Will work fine.

I would do that but the ignition leads are all different too, the ignition cylinder on the wing has a 'female' style connector and the distributor cap and manifold coil all have 'male' style connection.

 

Is it possible to get ignition leads with different connections at either end? I.e. male at distributor cap and female at coil?

Just swap the dizzy from your old engine over if that is the case. You should be able to make it all work with what bits you already have without spending anything.

Its only the king lead you need to swap by the sound of it.

Great idea, I didn't think of that because the distributor caps are different, one screws on the other clips on.

You can get leads made with whatever connectors you want, and iirc some kits come with two kings leads (which I presume are for the two different coils but I've never checked) but you're best doing what Tom said imo as it's easier and cheaper.

 

Just in case you wanted to change the coil wiring, there are only four wires going into the manifold coil as the fourth plug is empty. Attached is a diagram, I can get the wire numbers easily enough but keep forgetting to update the picture!

Wow, thanks very much for the comprehensive reply.

I was lucky enough to stumble across a king lead off a mates 205 with the correct connections! So I'm up and running but could use a tidy up.
