Nah, i have a J plate red 1.9 one. Also have a miami one but it's off road for now.

strange one then. AFM's can have strange effects, can remember on my old mi16 that wouldn't take the throttle and it was the AFM due to a loose connection. Have you tried swapping anything over with known working units or have you just given up completely?

I drive a J reg red 1.9 daily but pretty much just use it to get to my work Mon-Fri so doesn't get about alot

I also have a miami with a gti6 engine on coilovers but it's not been on road in years so wouldn't have been that one that you see!

I can tell you that the shortened inlet manifold is very poorly done. Notice how it kinks at the weld? I've done many shortened inlets. I have a template/jig that maintains the original radius of the runners. I recently repaired an inlet that was bought from Spoox by a guy here in Sydney. It was so bad, that the inlet manifold and alternator couldn't be fitted at the same time! Inside, where it really matters, was appalling. There were big penetration dags inside which would have severely affected port flow. Goodness knows why these weren't even attempted to be cleaned up. The big fat welds on the outside of yours also tells me the TIG operator was a novice. A good manifold has nice flat welds, which are very difficult to detect after grit blasting. Only properly vee'd welding preparation can achieve that. Sorry, it's a crap job and probably why shortened inlet manifolds get bad press in the UK.

Also. the breather/ICV pipes are incorrect. Notice how they should cross over. The ports in the rubber duct are different.

This is the Spoox manifold I had to repair. You can see from the template how far out it was.

Recently mine has also developed some throttle problem at the start. Sometimes it needs the throttle stabbed just to kick it into life. Could it be the Mayo doing it ? I am studying Motor Vehicle Engineering at college and the tutor there said it was to do with cold air being passed over the top of the filler cap for the oil. He

says as he had one and was pretty knowledgeable about it.

I have tightend up the alternator this week and i found that it wasnt difficult to get to and i am shocked to hear about the inlet manifold being s*it the tutors at college were total loving the welds on it hahahaha. I wasnt too keen on how packed it does make the engine and i am going to get the breather pipes sorted asap as well. How would i be able to to sort the inlet manifold thing just now? just until i can afford to get the throttle bodies in. I am going to give the breather pipes a going over today

@ Pitcrew How easy was it to get the inlet manifold out? Your picture is the spitting image of my engine bay ( bar s*itty welding and breather pipe placement) and also do you get the mayo as well ? Being in a roasting hot climate and what my tutor said about it happening with cold air passing over. First time i have heard of pugs in Austrailia , that is awesome as f*** like.

Also would like to know if anyone has had the throttle problems that i have been getting from start up or is that part of the quirks?

I didnt know different as this is my first swaree into pug ownership but i am going to have it fixed as i am quite attached to my little car i want the throttle bodies onto it and also wanted to have the engine out and cleaned up also going to redo the ignition system and the brakes too as i think a seal may have popped on the master cylinder soft as s*it pedal even after bleeding #

Last thing i promise hahaha

How many people on here tighten there clutch cable? I had to tighten mine about 5 times since i installed it. and tightening it did fix the problem i was having getting into gear always ground reverse , 2nd was a pig to get into and first gear would sometimes ping out of gear upon changing to 2nd. It makes me ponder my gear linkage could be on its way out too. I seen this one here

http://www.kamracing.co.uk/car-tuning/peugeot/peugeot-205/transmission/gear-linkages/peugeot-205-gti-kam-racing-gear-linkages.html

Also if anyone has throttle bodies Jenvey or weber ones 2nd hand would be sweet not sure i can afford the full price on these and now being a student costs have to be hammered down , i do get a cracking workshop to play in , but i cant weld yet sad i know but i got the drive to learn and i am learning all the s*it in college so i can pursue a new job front. I am gutted that the course i am on is so stupid and simple after 5 weeks of being there i have taken of struts and brakes crap crap crap. and i am now going to start job hunting round fife and at performance places like falkland performance, even if it is for just experience i need it and i want my pug to get the best of help to be awesome hahaha

I am also surprised that no-one from spoox has peeped in a word. They cannae be as bad as what everyone makes out can they ? I never heard of them until i bought the car and it seemed the guy i bought it of had the nicest things to say about it but he was the owner after the guy who had bought it from spoox

At the moment i am getting s*it together for buying my gear linkage ( if that is what it needs ) and trying to see if there is some new inlet manifold options to be had and would be grateful for everyones input on here as you lot are the most knowledgeable having been or going through it

Cheers :D

If you have to put throttle down to get it started then it could be lack of air from ICV, just check the pipes around the throttle body area. Where about are you in Glenrothes btw? PM me if you want to keep it private ;)

i've seen a couple r5's recently, one is quite often at Lidls's in glenrothes, a grey one i think which i assume is owned by someone who works there. I saw another broken down on the road between glenrothes and leven a few months ago!

Anyway, mine is only a std 1.9 :D
