Anyone Fancied A Camping Trip?

Recommended Posts

Mr_Frosty

Not sure if this is the right place.

A friend of mine who drives a VW T4 showed me this. we converted his standard van into a home early last year and he has been telling me it's the best thing ever.

He has been living solely in the van for about 18 months now (cheaper than student houses) after 3 months in he is still trying to get me to buy something similar.

Today though I think he maybe pushing it a bit fair but all the worth its very unique.

Anyone thought of this?

I'd get pissed off with the small space, I quite like living in a house tbh plus the time I have slept in a car I spent longer trying to sleep than actually sleeping.

I love camping but sod staying in a 205. If i'm camping for anything linger than a weekend, I like to have creature comforts to make it more enjoyable, i.e. electric for cooler boxes, the wife's hair straighteners, blow up bed and lots of duvets.

There's something quite special about camping in nice weather with a load of mates. Got to be by the beach though!

Many moons ago, on an EVO forum camping trip in darkest Wales (this pub's for local people and all that), I slept in the back of my old 205. No luxury of mattress but my sleeping bag and the sponge thing with the seats folded down was quite comfy. Had my head under the parcel shelf which was useful when the early sun came up, didn't wake me at ridiculous o'clock.

Together? Bugger all room for two surely? Cozy though ;)

I slept in my first 205 for one night. I was only 19 at the time and it was a case of I was staying at a mates, we went out to the pub, he pulled and fecked off and i couldn't get into his flat. So being 30 miles from home I did the logical thing. Went and bought a kebab and some porn and spent the night in the car. It was hell.

My mate that i go surfing with has a couple of campers that i've stayed in a few times. An old bay window and a converted transit. Neither are much fun and 1 night is the maximum I will tolerate. Given the choice it's a hotel for me. Camping is just a fancy word for homeless.

£55k! Just think how many nights in a hotel that can buy you.

I always seem to be drunk when camping in the 205 and had no issues. Although sleeping 5 up in a Mondeo overnight at Dover was not fun.
