Fuel Line Replacement

Hi all,

 

Does anybody know if peugeot still supply the fuel lines under the floorpan? I know Baker BM do them for £70 a set but cant find any alternative.

They did last time I wanted some. Comes as 1 long piece in a U shape, you have to cut and bend it to suit. There is enough to do the car with about 6" left over so you have to be careful where you cut it.

A method I found on here somewhere is to use the old pipes as a template and cable tie together as you work your way along.

You will need a new olive for the connection at the high pressure end in the engine bay. Peugeot wanted something ridiculous like £4 each supplied in a bag of 10.

I sourced some hyd olives that will do the trick at £1 each that I can supply if you wish.

I'm also after :

 

metal clips that hold the door trim in place

 

Front bumper mounting parts - again Baker do that for an eyewatering £200

 

oh the red trim - bumpers and doors - looking at getting from the Peugeot museum unless anyone knows better?

If you mean John Grose in Ipswich I wanted something for my 406 the other day and they have centralised their parts departments, you have to go to a Ford dealer in Ransomes Industrial Estate who clearly know nothing about Peugeot parts!

The local dealer here has done similar, I have to now ring the Derby branch. Pain in the arse tbh.

Sorry Kieran/Tom ididn't see your replies . By dealer in meant the one just off the A14 at the Asda turn off. It's still a pug dealer and still had a parts next last time I visited-about a month ago

Presumably that is still a Peugeot dealer though? I can't imagine that using a Ford dealer is the official Peugeot policy...? Although it will probably be to use a Vauxhall dealer soon.

i know a skoda dealer that was building a new workshop, they would take car round to their peugeot dealer for service/ repairs,then on to their citroen dealer for wash and hoover.

then back to the skoda show room/ reception! quality!

I thought those Bakerbm fuel lines were stainless steel at first but looks like they are just mild steel after rereading the text although plated ,mine have some rust on but haven't looked too closely yet too see how bad they are (car was offroad 10 years ),

I'm also interested in this as i want to change my fuel lines.

 

However, i want to be able to run my GTI6 but also have the option to revert back to standard.

 

I chopped the ends off my existing fuel pipes so that i could use double ear'd? clamps for my GTI6 conversion.

 

I've looked at the BBM pipes (is there a reason they can't be stainless?), but it would mean my GTI6 flexi's wouldn't work without and additional fitting that matches the union on their feed pipe, anyone know the thread size?

 

How does the return flexi pipe usually connect to the hard line on the bulkhead?

the return pipe is just push on with a hose clip, feed pipe is a compression fitting barbed into a hard plastic pipe to the base of the fuel filter.

 

theres no reason to do away with the oem arrangement with a different engine, just swap the banjo on the filter takeoff to an appropriate size (standard is 7mm iirc)

Cheers WP, but I want to temporarily run my existing gti6 pipes from new hard lines. So I'm looking for the fitting size of the new hard line, so I can get the appropriate size for my GTi6 flexi. I suppose Baker could tell me.

I found some barrel shaped fuel line olives on the bay 7.4mm diameter ebay number 301998692226 (7mm olives are a very rare size it seems) but tried one today quickly and it won't fit over the pipe but the pipe may be slightly damaged at the end but the one on there now isn't barrel shaped but is square one side. The pipe was not clamped tight anyway even though the nuts were very tight so not sure if its original or not ???
