Dkz Cam Into Xu10J2-T Motor Problem.......advice?

Whilst in the process of installing the DKZ cam into my 2 litre turbo CT engine i noticed that there was a part missing from inside....the best way to describe this part would be " camshaft thrust plate" and its job is to stop the cam from moving back and forwards. It is on the front cam cap and would be smaller than a matchbox and i guess 3 or 4 mm thick. It also would have a hole in it too. It would sit into one of the grooves on the actual camshaft when doing its job.
How the car has operated without this part has me beat so i would like to get it as per factory spec before placing motor into the 205.

Firstly....would anybody have one of these parts from a stuffed XU10J2T lump? Or can someone tell me the correct name of this part or even better....a part number.

Also....did anybody else have a problem when installing this 205 8v cam into the Citroen CT engine???

The XU10J2TE "locks" the camshaft in place with the first(gearbox side) bearingcap. It has an extra groove which the alloy XU heads don't have, but the camshafts do. No problem needing to be solved.

later 205's dont use that plate, not sure when but my 89 engine doesnt use one.

Soooo....let me get this right !!! I am looking for a part that doesnt really exist? [i thought it strange not to find this part on a perfectly good working engine ] On the 3 grooves on the camshaft i thought it would need a "locking" device to stop it moving backwards and forwards....not so eh?
On the XU motors i think the part is called a Camshaft thrust bearing..
Any more tips most welcome......

you need to check if you actually need this part or not, my engine doesn't.

Are you sure you've a DKZ cam (1.9 8v, 122bhp) and not one from the earlier D6A (1.9 8v 130bhp)

mine is a 128 bhp D6B :)

Thanx Guys for your help on this.........yep, it is a good point....maybe i havent been sold a DKZ cam ??? Is there any way i can confirm just by looking at it?? This will be the telling blow me thinks !! :{

I was wrong about the extra groove, but the first bearing cap on an XU102J2TE head does lock it in place, just by being as wide as the camshaft is.

mine is a 128 bhp D6B :)


Indeed the early GTI is D6B iso D6A.
D6A is from the 405/BX

A very good read there Dave....thanks muchly !!! [ even had a pic of the camshaft buffer which will come in handy when explaining to a Pug dealer ]

So i managed to obtain the cam thrust bearing [lucky !! ] but i am still bemused at why the XU10J2T lump didnt have one from the beginning??????

bulls*it as expllained above the cam thrust bearing is integral to the belt end bearing cap so if your cam isnt locked by it it cant be the original cam
