went to merlins this afternoon and bought a nice steering wheel, a small resovior pot to remote mount it as the standard resovior fouls on the cage. bought some braided rubber brake pipe and some fittings for the job. also the cage padding turned up in the post today.

its dangerous living within sensible driving distance of merlins!

Looks a lovely thing. To do a neat job of edging your panels get hold of some Raychem "Rayrim". Yes really, no it isn't some dodgy gay porn!*

fitted the new resovior pot up in the scuttle panel so its nicely hidden, fitted the new steering wheel, cage padding, bled the brakes through and fitted the mintex 1155 pads on the Hispec Ultralite calipers.

done 6 miles testing in it so far, rear brakes lock up before the fronts so ive got a willwood bias valve to plumb in. as the cars insured now im hoping to book it in for an mot on sat morning, just so i can get a few more miles under its belt before the trackday next friday.

Wish you hadn't bought the Willwood valve, i've got one and it's a nasty, cheaply made, little thing. The Tilton ones are much nicer

never bought it, was kicking around the workshop. agree its cheaply made. one of the threads isnt perfect needs a tap to run down it.

na no mot on it yet. not quite ready for it, no horn, washers, wipers foul on the cage.

it was more about getting some road miles on it before it goes out on track.

after the front pads were warmed up seemed to brake much better without the rears locking up first

Personally i prefer having them set dead straight, i know some people like a bit of toe out (10 minutes) to sharpen up the turn in and others like a bit of toe in for the stability. All depends what your preferred driving style is.

yeah i didnt know which way to go for the best, so i set it to 0. then i can go either way from there. after doing the tracking turns out i also had a dodgy wishbone bush, got a new 309 arm today so gota stick that on tonight, quick road test then load up the trailer ready for the morning.

fingers crossed!

Yeah i saw your topic after i posted that. Shame you couldn't have gotten a few more road miles before tomorrow. Remmeber Rusty's 106, he never did any road miles in the thing and as such everytime it got near a track it crapped its guts out :(

trackday all went well, no mechanical issues atall but had alot of fuel starvation issues, going to have to invest in a pump and swirl pot setup before its next outing.

need to brace the bonnet as was getting loads of flap.

looking forward to a few sessions at spring action day..
