[Rally_Prep] 205 Gti 1900 Gravel Car In The Making

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Thought I'd share my car with you guys.

Just started rallying so there's always work

being done to the car.

Below the car after a day testing at Sweet Lamb,

Very pleased and excited for my first event.

Fortunately it was a Tarmac car so there's a heap load of gaps to

Seal.

You would think it's just done a Dakar #dust!!

My first event didn't go as planned..

Had to retire with fuel problems.

As it's running on carbs it was setup with an

Inline fuel pump.

This was removed and I'm now running a standard

Fuel pump with a pressure turbo pressure regulator.

Added with a full setup of the carbs and a rolling road day.

Money well spent as it's now running like a watch,

All washed after the first event!

Yet again, didn't finish my second rally due to snapping a shaft.

this has now lead to me making some improvements to the car.

list of what i will and am currently doing to the car.

rear beam is off and im currently rebuilding it and raising it back to the correct height.

suspension and top mounts ordered ( AB MOTORSPORT )

custom made drive shafts ( Colin Satchell engineering)

new hydraulic handbrake to do away with the huge thing it currently has.

then test.. cant wait!!

the culprit that has caused me to do all this work.

I'd see about getting that old handbrake lever fitted, those little ones are pretty useless on 205 calipers

Hey Guys,

I'm sorry there hasn't been any update but I have done a heap load of work to the car!

Once I get a chance I will update. #proflex #itg #custom shafts # welding

I've been trawling for hours looking for a pic on a car project with rear wheel scrapers!?

Could anybody please help me on either finding it or any idea where I could buy some.

Thanks in advance!

Nice project fair play. Im sure you'll start having some luck soon enough now. If your on Facebook, add TC Lloyd and talk to him about wheel scrapers, im sure he has come up with something on his gravel car.

Arwel, cheers dude!! I do hope I get some luck. There's been some improvements to the car, I'd like to make it just as reliable as possible. I've just mailed Tc he's the one that pointed me in the right direction for the shafts!!

standard driveshafts are fine but you must keep off full power on full lock.

Check the plunge by undoing the hub nut and seeing how far the driveshaft will push in (no more than 20mm I think) ans same both sides - if not move engine / box across by slackening mounts. If too much plunge then use 309 shafts
