Head Skims

Recommended Posts

I need to get an 8v head skimmed as I'm replacing the headgasket and want to make sure its not warped.

Whats the going rate for this sort of work and does anyone know of someone local to me who can do it.

Sorry i didn't reply to your PM Kev, completely forgot. I use a friend of a friend, really good and totally knows his stuff, with the equipment to match, also well priced, but on the odd occasion decides what he wants to do rather than what you tell him, which means the heads come back completely rebuilt with a big bill!! :) A little frustrating!! -and my friend that sorts it for me is too busy most of the time, hence things take a while so i tend not to bother these days unless not in a rush, and/or i want something extra doing.

Otherwise Anthony has anything else done by Paul Gardias over in Bicester iirc.

Or, of course, QEP. ;)

I was referred to a company just outside of Dunstable in one of the villages but I can't for the life of me find it on google. I shall call the garage who recommended it tomorrow if you want.

A basic skim was £65 irc

Les has been good for several bits of work I've had done, from memory it's about £30 all up for a skim with him.

That was for my man in Dunmow, rather than Gardias though! ;)

Great! £110 for valve clearances, stem seals, shim and skim.

Where is my Haynes! Or does anyone want to come over and help strip my 1.9?
