Yes it's getting there slowly. Think I'll put together a 1.9 Mi16 for it for a start, and then maybe make a 2.3 litre version on the side to put in later on.

Got most parts ready for the Mi16, apart from the head where I guess valve seats should be cut as a minimum, maybe new guides too.

It's not my workshop though, just my garage at home where I try to do as little "dirtywork" as possible to keep it kinda clean.

However I'll move the 205 here to do the assembly work.

It has the space for all 3 of them, 2x205 and 1x405. Just waiting for the last 205 now.

They should have used that photo for this news article - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-39325206

Indeed, however I can't understand Norwegians beeing particulary happy though, it is not my impression at least :)

Got myself a 20t press this weekend, and cleaned up the workbench a bit. Need to tidy up a bit more before I take the 205 home to start assembly.

Went to the garage yesterday, put on rear dampers, steering rack and the new wheels/tires.

Was mounting some small stuff in the front yesterday, and got a bit sceptical about the bonnet lock.

Is it supposed to be some spacer between the bonnet and the part with the pin or can I just bottom out the threads?

Can't really understand why it has so long threads. Any risk of making a outwards dent in the bonnet?

its so you can adjust the bonnet height

Ok, so it shouldn't necessarily be bottomed out, but it can be without touching outer skin?

I thought it should be bottomed out and the bonnet height just was adjusted on the sides with the two rubber stoppers one on each side.

Hi guys. Are these two connectors for the engine sensor loom / tacho and live/switched 12v for engine management loom?

I'm starting to look into getting the wiring back into the car.

Wires in the middle below image center.

Yes, the thick red wire is switched 12v, it should be numbered 2 and the tacho input is wire 112 which should be pin 4 of the smaller 6 pin plug, I think it is the thin blue wire in your photo.

Ok, so it is indeed the right plugs at least then. Just what I needed confirmed :)

There is a spreadsheet with the full pinout here - http://www.205gti.com/downloads/wiring.xls

Be aware that the pins for switched 12v and the starter solenoid feed are sometimes swapped over in position, this appears to be the case with your car.

Ok, it is a quite late one this, 1991 I believe, so it might be on the later ones.

For sure. Where are you located?

I need to update this thread with more pics soon, engine is in running and interior is starting to get into place these days. :)

Kristiansund is not that far away indeed. You're welcome to drop by of course.

In a few months the garage actually might be sorted a bit and not loooking like a big mess anymore.

All sorts of interior parts floating around in there now.

So starting to update the project again... Rented a car trailer and went to transport the 205 to the garage at my house.

In place, although have to swap place with the T16 for more permanent location.

Preparing to move it over to the other side, and put it on axle stands.

Found the fuel tank and got it into place.

And started rebuilding the 205 beam that once belonged to this car, (temporarily using the old 309 GTi beam from my track car for transporting it home).

20170923_212737.thumb.jpg.184e08120724ad5dbb813850f2f6a2b0.jpgStarted to put the rear wheel bearings on, but the treads was not the best neither on the spindle or in the nut. Ordered some tap and dies and waited for them to arrive.

Also drove to a friend and picked up some 306 GTi calipers. I can't be arsed to use Brembos on this one due to the spacer/wheel offset issues with them.

ISloGRL.jpg

After a trip in the sandblasting cabinet they started to look better

T4LjPTo.jpg

Then I painted them and finished off with 2pac high gloss clear coat

Then some time in the oven after I came home to harden the paint a bit extra

Nice work!

How did the pizza taste like, after baking the calipers... ??

My other half does not allow me to use the oven for baking parts.....
