Oil Filler Pipe Relocation

Recommended Posts

dave205

Hi all, ive been looking into a possible new engine build, but one thing i'd have to move/get over would be to move the oil filler pipe that goes between the filler tower and the block. The engine block im refering to is an XU10 either a gti-6 one or turbo engine block.

Any advice appreciated!

With a 8v metal cam cover you can make this:

The cap can be found on ebay. (Not my engine btw)

I remember seeing late 8 valve engines with a plastic cam cover with an oil filler.

It's easily done to the XU10J4 cover, but not the XU9J4 as it's magnesium.

I am going down this route, just trying to get my head round how to simplify/route the breather system.

I do this to my race engine I build all the time, I end up with just one pipe from the block and cam cover and can fill the engine from the pipes aswell. Very neat and clean once done to the engine

No don't have any pictures but can supply kits for MI16 and S16 engines and gti6 engines aswell. Could do a 8v version aswell Would do a group buy if enough people are interested.

Here one of my engines incar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4zGlOcRy4g&feature=youtu.be&hd=1

is it possible to fit one of these to an 8v turbo engine + keep the original too just to help the engine breathe more?

Genuine question now, if that cap is on that filler neck and its tight, how will it breath in anyway?

through the standard breather pipes.

Yeah i know that, but i thought what johnny is saying, will it further increase the breathing?

No, it's a closed cap...

Exactly! So it will in no way aid engine breathing.

But the topic is not about the engine breathing, its about filler relocation. Exactly what that picture is showing.

Im looking into fitting a supercharger and the pipe would need to be moved and the hole blanked off. I think i will do something similair to that picture.
