The silencer itself - can't get it to fit behind the bumper without cutting a hole. Not something I wan't to do.

I've never had a look under the rear of a X4 so I don't know what's in the way but I would have thought there's a universal backbox of suitable dimensions available somewhere.

The rear axel is "in the way". The rear propshafts and diff held in check by a vertical plate between the rear wheels. So instead of the exhaust going under the rearbeam on a 2wd, the pipe goes over the left rear propshaft. So the angle of the rearbox in very different on a 4wd, and having all the bits and bobs for the rear hydraulic suspension and drivetrain under the bootfloor "steals" about 10-15cm in length.

And yes, I'm sure there is a universal box the could be shoehorned in place, but "plug and play" would REALLY be nice. There are enough things on a 4bie that are difficult - this now includes the exhaust.......... <_<

Let us know if/when you find something suitable.

I need to build exhaust on my T16 in a while when things are getting there.

Still 1 year probably, but anyways :)

And I hope you will do the same if you find something in the fjords........ ;)
