I've just replaced the pump on my 1.9 the same way. Poor thing hasn't moved for 4 years. Turned the key and heard the pump prime. Primed again and then started straight away. Think I killed the original leaving it dry afyter removing the tank and draining all the fuel off. 

Next step is to turn him around now and replace the suspension with Billys and Eibach springs to match the rear.  Down to Miles then for some engine and bodywork.
