Floor pan back to bare metal from the tank gap forward.

Anyone who has scraped by hand will know the amount of work involved so far.

Tonight I'm planning to get it painted before the surface rust begins........

Well got all the bare metal painted last night, I finished about 10pm.

After tea I'll see how its dried.

Then on to the back half, scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape scrape, oh joy......!

Last half of the underneath now stripped to bare metal, cleaned and painted, phew....

Both front arches stripped and painted also, thats now all the horrible work done.

Plated a couple of little rust holes too, you would never have known unless all the seam sealer was removed, a job bettter found sooner rather than later IMHO.

Engine and box back in and lowered radiator brackets progressing well.

New exhaust rear mounts made ready to be welded on, job for tonight me thinks.

The motivation is to get it painted while we still have some summer warmth left. lol

The hard bit is thinking that far forward and trying not to forget any fabrication work, I dont want to be painting it twice!!!!!!

Gone for the old skool grey look.

Outside will be the same but need to save some cash for more paint and some front wings etc etc. Doubt it will happen this side of the school hols so its on with checking panel fit with the doors and then sending them on the road to extreme lightening, grinder, air chisel, hole cutter and swaging tool at the ready........!

LOL.

I only build to a standard, its either right or not

Thing is it always takes longer but if its prep'd correctly you minimise your chances of failure at a trackday or similar :)

Not much of an update, but today I purchased 2 new front wings.

Yeah its great, one of the main selling points when i bought the house......

Hopefully I will get a lot more space back when I start bolting bits back on, I'm fed up of loosing, braking and tripping over stuff...!

Looks good, BUT, no harness bars in the cage?

Its hard to see from the pics but angles and clearence dont suit them, i did spec them but unfortunately they look a little odd for want of a better explaination (the main hoop isnt parallel to the the others so it forced the harness bars to be at an angle) so i left them out.

With hindsight I should of gone for a slightly differing design of cage to enable these additions (I realised they looked crap too late into the build)

To counter this it has proper plates welded in to the rear floor area though, granted not ideal but i painted myself into a corner.....

Bit of an update, front wings painted body colour on the inside and fitted for good.....

Doors off again.

Masked the rest of the car up and made a good start on preping the body work :-)
