Have you plated the stuff yourself?

No there's a company just round the corner that does it for me. Reasonable prices too.

Plum, if you don't mind me asking, what sort of money would the 6 items in your pic above cost to get plated?

I'm thinking of getting some stuff done

In total I've spent £50 there. For that I got the following done...

Front brake calipers

Rear caliper pad carriers and spreader plate things (dunno what they're called)

Fuel filter bracket

Bonnet catch

Shunt box bracket

Heater matrix bulkhead plate and bulkhead hose double clamp thing

Fuel tank strap

Gear lever quadrant

And a few various bolts....

Think that's about it. Seemed a reasonable price to me...

Another vote for Electroplate here, it seems that no matter how much I send them it £35, I think it goes into there Xmas fund. :D

I guess you may know, but there is a rubber strip missing from your sunroof. (on metal upstand in front of the sunroof leading edge)

Yes ta. I've got it, I peeled it off when I resprayed the sunroof tray. It's only about 8" long on mine though, and was just glued in the centre. It'll get it glued back on when I'm doing all the finishing touches. It's currently safely tucked away under the sunroof glass where I can't lose it!

Soooo......

Tonight I put the engine in, didn't go too badly, probably only took an hour or so to get it in there, then another hour or so messing about.

Just one thing that's troubling me is the "good old" subject of master cylinder clearance... Or lack of it. I've had a look at a lot of photos of other people's cars and I know the shells vary quite a bit but mine seems to be very very tight. I'm 99.9% sure (I'll double check tomorrow) the LH engine mount is screwed in all the way so that the engine is as low as it can be, but it seems I've got clearance issues left, bottom and right! In the photos below the pedal box isn't actually done up at all, there must be a 10mm gap at the bottom where it should meet the bulkhead.

I'll have a go at grinding the tapped hole away on the LH end of the cam cover tomorrow and see if that allows the whole thing to drop down a bit. I reckon I'll have to take a load out of the belt cover too (as others have). I have already slotted the bulkhead holes "up and right" so I can shove the whole lot out of the way but it seems it's nowhere nearly enough.

I have to say I'm a bit deflated by it! Makes me want to put the 8v back in! :-)

Make sure you take enough off stuff to allow a bit of engine movement. When i first done mine i could feel knockin on my clutch and brake pedal, caused by engine hitting MC when braking hard.

I got up this morning and put all my toys back in the pram!

Did the usual mods to the cam cover and belt cover and it's now like this....

Also got the windscreen back in today with the help from my dad and had a trial fit of the battery box. The driveshafts are also back in, gear rods connected and a few other little jobs.

All in all a good day!
