Quartz Wheel Trim On C5 Steelie - Fooling Anyone..?

Recommended Posts

barneys66

After a conversation with Kieran (jackherer) planted a seed, I thought I'd buy one of these just to experiment.

Think it'd look better if the steelie was painted black.. and you were far, far away or partially sighted..!

The diameter of the trim is 16.75" edge to edge, so this doesn't help the visuals either. The combo is still 700g lighter than a Speedline though (assuming R888s and PS3s weigh the same), should that matter.

Itch scratched - it'll hang on the workshop wall now, unless anyone wants it.

R888 and similar tyres are noticeably heavier than a Road tyre like the PS3, quite obvious when you look at your quoted weights.

given the C5 wheel is known to weigh 4.7 kilos give or take, and the speedlines about 8 kilos.

worn R888 - 8.4 kg.

slightly worn PS3 - 6.7 kg.

probably a larger difference with a full rubbered R888.

Blimey - that's one hell of a difference in tyre weights!
